How can I be a support worker at Afford?

The job most people apply for at Afford is to be a support worker. We understand why too! It means that you get to work directly with clients and make a positive difference in people’s lives. It’s very rewarding, lots of fun and you get work with incredible people who you support to achieve their goals.

There are some essentials qualifications and skills you must have to do this job.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are essential for support worker roles at Afford:

  • Certificate III qualification in Individual Support obtained by an accredited VET as a minimum.
  • A current First Aid and CPR training accreditation (or for candidates to be willing to obtain this qualification).

Qualifications and job requirements

The following clearance and checks must be completed before you work at Afford, and there are key duties you must perform as part of this role.

  • You must have a current, unrestricted Australian drivers’ licence. We cannot accept international drivers’ licence.
  • You must be willing to obtain a clear police check.
  • You must have or be willing to obtain a current and clear Working with Children Check with no restrictions.
  • You must have a current or be willing to obtain and clear NDIS Worker Screening Check with no restrictions.
  • You must successfully complete an NDIS Worker Orientation module.
  • You must have and be willing to provide an up-to-date Covid Vaccination Certificate (or certified medical exemption). You can see the Australian Government guidance on this here.
  • You must be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical check.
  • You must be willing to drive clients in vans, which will be provided by Afford.
