Last weekend, more than 800 Afford clients, their families and carers, Afford staff and VIPs jumped down the rabbit hole for this year’s Afford in Wonderland themed Gala Ball in Penrith.
Held at Penrith Panthers Marquee, the Afford in Wonderland Gala Ball transported attendees into a world of whimsy and magic with a decorative features such as a full sized White Rabbit, oversized pocket watch, pink flamingos, mushrooms and more.
Now in its third year, the Afford Gala Ball is the only event of its kind in the disability sector that is staged purely as an opportunity for people with disability to celebrate in a formal setting with family, carers and friends.
Thanks to Afford’s Project Princess initiative, attendees were dressed in stunning formal wear and gowns generously donated by the Afford community and general public.
Some attendees chose to get right into the theme by dressing to the theme as Alice in Wonderland, The Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, and Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
Special performances on the night included a duet by Warren and Ricky Nifo from The Voice, as well as an Alice in Wonderland dance performance by You Can Dance dance school.
Everyone danced the night away to some catchy tunes and enjoyed a fun filled evening with friends and family.
The icing on the Alice in Wonderland inspired cake was a wonderful finale to a wonderful evening for all!
