Our Post:

Our enthusiastic residents at Billabong Group Home in Penrith are always looking for ways to increase their fitness to lead healthy lifestyles.

Leading A Healthy Lifestyle

The residents of the Billabong home try to ride their bicycles every day as part of their regular exercise routine.

Mark, Brett and Michael all have their own bikes which they use to ride around the oval behind their home; enjoying the outdoors as well as enjoying an activity they love as friends.

Connecting With The Local Community

Bike riding allows residents to get out into their local community. Regular activity has been shown to improve overall well being, reduce stress, and improve social and communication skills.

On their bike rides, Mark, Brett and Michael chat to the locals as they pass by and sometimes even have the opportunity to pat some of the dogs walking with their owners. This provides many opportunities for residents to get to know their local community in a fun and engaging way.

Staying Active

Brett, in particular, is very committed to leading a healthy and balanced lifestyle and stays active by getting involved in a variety of sports such as football, cricket and swimming. He is great at encouraging his friends to get active and loves sharing his interests in sports with this housemates.

“This is my new bike. I like my new bike. It is much better for me to ride my bike.” – Brett, Resident at Billabong home.
