Scharni and Margret from Butterflies Supported Accommodation would like to share a special message to everyone experiencing lockdowns and restrictions, “stay home and stay safe.”

The lovely ladies used their arts & crafts expertise to create some stunning new house decorations and bring some bright smiles to the faces of their lifestyle assistants.

Afford is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care across our services. We have implemented several additional safety protocols across sites to ensure the health and wellbeing of all clients and staff during these challenging times.

“Scharni and Margret decided that they wanted to make safety signs to remind everyone to stay safe and to give some cheer and colour to their home. They demonstrated creativity and thoughtfulness during this current pandemic we are all going through,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Siobhan Gallagher.

The ladies have been making the most of the lockdown and staff have kept them informed about restrictions and health updates.

“We have incorporated safe practices into all at-home activities. We are keeping busy with morning tea picnics in the backyard, tending to the winter vegetable garden and music therapy on Saturday mornings after breakfast,” continued Siobhan.

It is also essential to have plans and dreams to look forward to during these challenging times. Getting back to accessing the community and spending time with their families are right at the top of the to-do list for Scharni and Margret once restrictions ease.

“The ladies can’t wait to start attending Community Centre again and get back out into the community. They are looking forward to attending movie theatres, going to the zoo and museums but most importantly seeing their families again,” said Siobhan.

Let’s all keep positive like Scharni and Margret, and remember to “Stay home and stay safe.”
