For many people in Sydney’s South West the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) journey has well and truly begun. So now is the time to reassess your plans, goals and supports to make sure that the funding you’re receiving continues to help you live the life you want.
Afford has established a team of knowledgeable NDIS Support Coordinators who understand NDIS terms and processes and work closely with individuals and their families and carers to ensure a positive outcome.
To ensure your NDIS plan expands to meet your personal growth needs, Afford has provided their top tips to empower you to get more out of the NDIS.
Review Your Plan
During your first planning meeting, you listed your goals and funding was based on supports to achieve these goals. Is this still relevant? Have you achieved your goals? Are your current supports still meeting your needs? Do you need a shift in funding? Your plan is meant to grow with you, so if your funding doesn’t support your new life, work and living goals, then speak with your NDIS Support Coordinators to revise your funding structure.
Rely On Your NDIS Support Coordinator
NDIS Support Coordinators are the experts. They are on the journey with you to look at your plan and determine whether your supports still suit your needs. For instance, if you need a new wheelchair, NDIS Support Coordinators can assist you to get quotes to submit to the NDIS. Or if you would like to develop your strength and movement, coordinators can connect you with Allied Health services. Stay in regular contact with your NDIS Support Coordinators, because they are the key to helping you get the most out of the NDIS.
Learn And Grow – It’s Your Plan
The NDIS is focused on empowering individuals to grow and develop at work, at home and in life. Make your NDIS plan work for you by ensuring the funding you receive for reasonable and necessary supports is reviewed and updated each year so that you are in control to get the services you need to enjoy a variety of programs, outings, fitness activities, work opportunities and more. It’s your plan for your life. Keep your plan updated so that you can lead the life you want.
