For the past 12 months, Blacktown Day Program has been running a successful beauty program that is always a popular activity for clients.
Afford Lifestyle Assistants, Jacinta Antwi-Boasiako (qualified hair stylist) and Jessica Hawkins (qualified make-up artist), facilitate the program together and use their expertise to ensure that clients learn different techniques and also benefit from a little personal pampering during the session.
Jacinta and Jessica have both previously worked in the beauty industry and were excited to bring their experience and knowledge to Afford to give Afford clients a wonderful learning experience. Jessica has been using her expertise to teach our Blacktown Day Program clients all about makeup, skin care, what products to buy and how to use different brushes and pallets. The ladies absolutely love this class and eagerly look forward to it.
“Beauty and hair is such a big hit with our clients. Right now, we are also providing 1:1 home support in hair and beauty for a client whose goal is to study Beauty Therapy at TAFE. I see how excited the girls get every week when it’s beauty class time. They just love being able to try new looks and new colours. It’s a fantastic initiative by our staff who are using their skills for Afford,” said Blacktown Day Program Team Leader, Laura Salas.
