The world is here to explore and that is exactly what the residents of True Blue are set to do!
The residents of the Afford True Blue home have forged strong friendships and enjoy getting out and about together to experience more of their local community or participate in new activities that they’ve always wanted to do.
The Afford Lifestyle
As part of The Afford Lifestyle, an Afford van is always parked out the front of the home to ensure that residents can be supported to go where they want when they want. For True Blue residents, their van has taken them everywhere!
Peter, John, Michael, Kenneth, Graeme, Laurie and Deemara wanted to go fruit picking. So their Lifestyle Assistants, Nancy, Ike and Ran found Anderson Fruit Farm in Sackville North in NSW for the perfect day trip.
Fun and Educational Experiences
The friends got amongst the fruit; picking and eating as they went. There were loads of mandarins and oranges to harvest and try. Not only was this an enjoyable day trip, but it also helped residents understand how different fruits are grown. Such a delicious and fun adventure!
From the source to the shops, True Blue residents have also travelled to Parklea Markets where they have seen where fruits, vegetables and more are sold. Rows and rows of gorgeous produce ready to be chosen for their next nutritious meal in their True Blue home.
Stay Active and Healthy
For some exercise and activity, residents have also taken a trip out to the Yandhai Nepean Crossing, which is a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge spanning the Nepean River between Penrith and Emu Plains. Everyone loved walking across the bridge; watching the water pass under them and taking in the scenery.
A trip into town is always an adventure, so visiting the Vivid Lights spectacular in Sydney was a must for many residents. They experienced different light displays and took in the wonderful atmosphere of the event.
Enjoy Your Home
But sometimes it’s nice to stay close to home too. The residents enjoy an afternoon walk close by where they can feed the ducks swimming on the Nepean River.
Recently, they wanted to make jewellery, so Afford support staff helped residents to plan the activity. They all went to Kmart to purchase the jewellery items and once home, made their own colourful wrist bracelets. It was a great activity that allowed everyone to express their creativity in a fun and engaging way.
The The Afford Lifestyle is about supporting you to get involved in activities you enjoy, go to places you love and experience more to live the life you want.
