Our Post:

Meal times can be stressful for some families, especially when your child shows little interest in food, or refuses entire categories of food types or groups.

Afford has established an Allied Health team of specialists that can support you and your child to make meal times fun again.

Is your child:

  • Only able to tolerate a limited number of foods?
  • Underweight due to limited food choices?
  • Eating different foods to the rest of the family?
  • Refusing entire categories of food textures or nutrition groups?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above, then Afford can support you find some answers. Our therapists focus on your child’s individual needs and develop specialised feeding plans to suit.

Our Allied Health team has attended specialised training that covered the assessment and treatment of picky eaters and problem feeders using the SOS Approach to Feeding. The training enhanced our therapists’ knowledge to identify feeding problems and the ability to create and implement feeding programs within a group or on an individual basis. Our therapists are now qualified SOS Feeding therapists and will coordinate Afford Feeding Clinics throughout this year.

An information evening about Afford feeding supports for parents of children 18 months of age or older is being held on Tuesday, 12 February 2019 at Afford’s National Head Office (3-7 Marieanne Place, Minchinbury NSW).

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Audrey on 0481 903 619 or Linda on 0434 608 009.
