Our Post:

At Afford, we create environments where you feel safe and supported to do the things you love. At Mount Druitt Day Program in Sydney’s Far West, additional equipment to support client movement and wellbeing is now available thanks to Community Building Partnerships 2019 funding.

A massage chair, ceiling hoist and hospital bed have all been purchased with grant funding and have enhanced supports for clients.

Relax and Unwind with Support

Massage increases relaxation and can reduce muscle tension and stress. We encourage the use of massage chairs within our services to support the overall health and wellbeing of members of our community.

Massage chairs can be used by clients who need help in managing their moods or emotions. They can also be used to soothe muscles and help flexibility and movement.

“After being in the massage chairs, our clients always have a smile on their face. Massage helps them relax and let their walls down. Their mood also improves,” said Kristiarne Colavito, Team Leader at Afford’s Mt Druitt Day Program.

A Safe Environment for All

The ceiling hoist makes on-site activities safer for both clients and staff. Using the hoist individuals with limited mobility are safely supported to reposition for a variety of activities, such as personal care sessions.

Community Building Partnerships funding allows Afford to enhance its services to help more people in the community. Equipment such as the ceiling hoist and hospital bed ensure that every client who attends Mt Druitt Day Program has access to supports to suit their needs.
