Today is International Asperger’s Day (18 February). At Afford, we champion inclusive communities and provide individuals, their families and carers with support to live their best life under the NDIS. Afford is committed to raising awareness of Asperger’s Syndrome and the positive outcomes that can be achieved for every individual.
We Work in Partnership With You
Afford has a dedicated Allied Health team to enhance the facilities and programs offered through sites across Australia to meet the individual needs of each participant.
Sensory Programs and Activities
Day Programs have access to supports that engage the senses and develop skills such as hand-eye coordination.
Along with dedicated sensory rooms in most Afford Day Programs, for clients to unwind and relax or find stimulation, Afford’s Miami Hub in Queensland is now the first site to be fitted with a state-of-the-art sensory wall. The wall encourages cause-and-effect learning with clients able to touch the images projected on the wall to see the reaction.
Get the Support You Need
When you join the Afford community, you are welcomed as a friend. You will always find support to expand your friendship circles and get to know others a time that suits you.
Asperger’s syndrome was the name given to a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others. Today there is no longer a separate diagnosis for Asperger’s Syndrome, and individuals are described as having autism spectrum.
