Our Post:

Afford staff are known across the disability sector as providing genuine, person-centred care for each and every one of our clients. We care!

Person-Centred Support

When we welcome a new client to the Afford community, our staff go above and beyond to make sure they are comfortable, feel at ease with staff and their peers and are supported to move towards achieving their goals under the NDIS.

Jack is a new client who was welcomed into our Bexley Day Program community. He was previously with another disability service organisation where the environment made him feel uncomfortable. Because of this, his family noticed that he began to exhibit certain behaviours which were out of character for Jack.

Settling in with Afford

Jack joined our Bexley team on 25th March. Since being at Bexley, he really enjoys his regular outings into the community where he can enjoy the outdoors at the park and much more. He is also very keen on the site’s sensory room. Our staff at Bexley ask Jack what activities he would like to do and it is no surprise to staff that the sensory/activity room is often his choice of activity.

Jack has been supported to get involved in activities at the Day Program and the staff have taken the time to learn more about Jack’s interest to support him in enjoying life on his terms.

Support for the Family

Afford has also supported Jack’s family in the transition to ensure that they are happy with his new environment. Jack and his family have direct access to a range of Afford services to support Jack on his journey to managing his behaviours and participating in activities and programs.

“You guys are amazing. We’re so glad that Jack has fit in and he clearly loves it here.” – Jack’s mum.

It is our person-centred approach that sets us apart from others in the disability sector. We understand our client’s needs and create programs to help them achieve their goals because we care.
