Our Post:

For the ladies of Belmore Day Program, going shopping is more than just looking in store windows and making purchases, it’s about building confidence in going out into the community, developing money handling skills and having some time out with friends.

Paula, Mimi, Jennifer, Thuy and Natalie are clients from Belmore Day Program who visit Eastgardens Shopping Centre each Friday for some ‘retail therapy’.

This is one of the highlight activities of the week, because it’s a ‘Ladies Day Out’ – very exclusive and designed just for the ladies.

Gaining Independence

The outing gives everyone the opportunity to buy items listed on their shopping lists, as well as a chance to do some window shopping to make their wish list for their next shopping adventure.

Then it’s time for lunch, when everyone chooses from a variety of food options, pays for their meals, with the support of a Lifestyle Assistant, and then all sit together to chat over lunch.

“We all love to shop,” says one of the ladies. Our staff are just as happy with our Lifestyle Assistants commenting, ” “their smiles are priceless when they find what’s on their list.”
