Our Post:

Our friends at Afford’s Jamisontown Day Program have put on their cowboy gear to bring even more creativity, excitement and joy to their activities for all-round smiles every day.

The team at Jamisontown Day Program go above and beyond to make every day a memorable, engaging and learning experience for everyone who attends the site.

Afford staff are passionate about supporting people with disability under the NDIS to achieve their goals. Our staff think outside of the box to create experiences for clients that they truly love.

“One day, was our PJs and Pancake Day and another was a Country Western Day! We discuss the ideas with our clients and work out what interests everyone. Then we make it happen,” said Leonie, Team Leader at Jamisontown Day Program.

Rugged up in their PJs, clients headed to the on-site kitchen to make their pancakes. With support from lifestyle assistants, they followed the instructions to shake and bake the pancakes. For an added twist, Lisa, Senior Lifestyle Assistant, suggested adding food colouring to the mix. The result? Mountains of delicious, sweet-smelling, rainbow-coloured pancakes for all to enjoy!

The Country and Western Day was another opportunity to dress up and learn.

“Some of our clients aren’t familiar with Country and Western music, so we had songs playing throughout the day, so they could get a feel of the difference in beat and lyrics to other songs they know,” Leonie commented.

A sizzling BBQ with healthy salads was on the menu for lunch. A few clients and staff strapped on their boot-scooting shoes to learn a line-dancing move or two.

Since COVID-19 restricted a range of community activities, the team at Jamisontown have been extra creative, providing on-site activities that stimulate individuals of all abilities.

“No day is the same at our site. We always have something different happening. Our clients love to try different things, learn about different cultures and cuisines and have fun.”
