Lights, camera, action! The catwalk was ready and the music was pumping for clients of Afford’s Rouse Hill Community Centre to strut their stuff during their on-site fashion show.

Rouse Hill regularly holds client and staff meetings to give individuals the chance to express their thoughts and opinions about programs to create at the site. A recent meeting revealed that clients were very interested in organising a fashion show. Staff of course were thrilled to coordinate this event!

A catwalk was laid out for clients to stroll along. Hair was styled and men’s ties were folded and straightened. Everything was ready and perfect for the big event.

Not only was Brandon part of the fashion show, but he was also the DJ! He created a fun and energetic atmosphere by dishing out the tunes for everyone to have their moment in the spotlight.

Beth, Karmen and Katroina boldly took to the catwalk in red outfits that showed colour style. Karen opted for a themed creation and wow-ed the audience with some awesome moves. Adriana and lifestyle assistants donned pretty tutus, as they walked the walk to showcase their style.

Peter and Kane got in on the action with some cool threads and the terrific trio of Matt, Brandon and Nicolas impressed the crowd dressed in suits and ties.

It was a day of fun and friendships. Everyone had the opportunity to express their personality. At Afford, it’s important that every individual feels comfortable to share their opinions, thoughts and feelings. The fashion show is just one way that our staff work in partnership with clients to deliver programs that bring joy and also encourage social skills and confidence.
