One of the best ways to find a job you’ll love is to explore different industries. Recently our SLES Trainees from the Prestons program travelled to Liverpool Catholic Club for a fun filled and educational industry visit to explore the different jobs and career opportunities.

The trainees had the opportunity to meet Mark Russell CEO at LCC, who gave them a grand tour of their facilities.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our trainees to learn about the jobs available and how the club operated. The tour showed our trainees some of the different skills and qualifications needed for specific roles, some of the day to day and how to apply for a job at the club.

The trainees had a fantastic time and were able to ask so many relevant questions about the different jobs at the club.

Sarah said “I really enjoyed the visit to Liverpool Catholic Club. I liked the Ice Rink. It is an area I never thought of working in before. I like the idea of working there.”

I found out what the jobs in the Hotel Industry is called. Areas like Reception area or doing House Keeping. It’s got me thinking now”

After the tour, the trainees enjoyed a coffee or hot chocolate and observed how the staff served their customers, what they would say, ask and do, as well as witnessing how they go about with general duties and dealing with the stress of busy periods. The trainees thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and all their excitement and enthusiasm led to further conversations about what they had learnt earlier. This opportunity has opened the door to many different potential jobs within the club industry for our trainees.

Many trainees are now willing to look into doing a hospitality course through TAFE! This is a big step for SLES trainees working towards their goals to ultimately gain open employment and building a solid foundation towards their future.
Go SLES!
