By leaving a bequest to Afford, you leave a legacy committed to bettering the lives of people with disability.

What are Bequests?

Leaving a gift to an organisation in your will is called a bequest.

There are a few types of gifts you can give to an organisation, with the most common being: a share of your estate (residuary gift), a fixed sum of money (pecuniary gift) or a specific gift (generally property, or an item of value which can be sold to support our work).

How to Leave a Bequest to Afford

We thank you for considering leaving a gift to Afford in your will.
Wills are important documents. We recommend getting in touch with a solicitor to make sure that your will is correctly executed. Afford is happy to recommend qualified solicitors who are able to assist you in the creation of your will.

Wording is also important in wills. The following is an example of wording that can be used to include Afford in your will.

To donate a specific sum:
“I give to the Australian Foundation for Disability (ABN 99 000 112 729), for its general purposes, free of all duties the sum of $__________ for which an authorised receipt from the Australian Foundation for Disability will be a sufficient discharge for the executor or trustee.”

To donate a percentage of your estate:
“I give __% of my estate to the Australian Foundation for Disability (ABN 99 000 112 729), for its general purposes, free of all duties for which an authorised receipt from the Australian Foundation for Disability will be a sufficient discharge for the executor or trustee.

To donate the residue (what you have remaining after provisions to family and friends have been made):
“I give to the Australian Foundation for Disability (ABN 99 000 112 729), for its general purposes, free of all duties the residue of my estate for which an authorised receipt from the Australian Foundation for Disability will be a sufficient discharge for the executor or trustee.”
