Leave A Gift In Your Will

Making a Lasting Impact – Bequests

To support the work we do, you can leave us a gift in your will. This generosity will allow us to continue supporting a range of clients to live a full life. Please let us know if you have left a gift for Afford in your Will, or by beneficiary nomination, so we can thank you for your compassion! Even if you prefer to remain anonymous, we would still like to thank you personally.

By leaving a bequest to Afford, you leave a legacy committed to bettering the lives of people with disability.

Leaving us a gift that will continue to give

Thank you for considering Afford as an option for your will recipients.

When you include a gift in your Will to Afford, you’re placing us among the people most important in your life. We are honoured and grateful to be considered among this group. To show our gratitude, we’ll ensure that your gift is used wisely and in the way that you intend.

There are a variety of gift options that can be given, with the most common being: a share of your estate (residuary gift), a fixed sum of money (pecuniary gift) or a specific gift (generally property, or an item of value which can be sold to support our work).

How to leave a gift in your will

We thank you for considering leaving a gift to Afford in your will. We understand wills are a sensitive and personal topic and that family members come first. But if you have chosen Afford as a recipient of your will, we thank you for your immense generosity.

We recommend getting in touch with a solicitor to make sure that your will is correctly executed. Afford is happy to recommend qualified solicitors who are able to assist you in the creation of your will.

Wording is also important in wills. The following is an example of wording that can be used to include Afford in your will.

To donate a percentage of your estate

“I give __% of my estate to the Australian Foundation for Disability (ABN 99 000 112 729), for its general purposes, free of all duties for which an authorised receipt from the Australian Foundation for Disability will be a sufficient discharge for the executor or trustee.

To donate the residue

“I give to the Australian Foundation for Disability (ABN 99 000 112 729), for its general purposes, free of all duties the residue of my estate for which an authorised receipt from the Australian Foundation for Disability will be a sufficient discharge for the executor or trustee.”
