In a first for Queensland, we were honoured to welcome over 270 clients and their families and Afford staff to our very first Queensland Gala Ball!
The Afford Gala Ball is a celebration! It’s a time for everyone to come together to socialise and to have fun with friends in a supportive and inclusive environment.
First Gala Ball for Queensland!
Afford has staged the annual Gala Ball in New South Wales for four years and, this year, it was Queensland’s time to shine! The Afford Gala Ball is the only event of its kind across the disability sector and Afford is pleased to be able to create such a memorable event for all to attend.
Held at the Brisbane Convention Centre, attendees were transported into an enchanted garden theme. There were willow-style trees with sprawling whimsical branches decorating the room. Bright and colourful light patterns danced across the ceiling and there was plenty of entertainment too.
Premier Dance performed the Taylor Swift hit, ‘Fairytale’ at the beginning of the event. Everyone enjoyed dancing to the music throughout the evening.
All attendees sparkled as they walked down the red carpet, with one attendee even commenting that he has “always wanted to walk down a red carpet.” We loved that some attendees threw themselves right into the theme by wearing pretty flower headbands and glitter to match the enchanted theme and arrived in style, in a stretch limousine.
The Afford Gala Ball is staged to give individuals living with disability across the state the chance to enjoy a formal celebration in a supportive and inclusive environment.
New Life Experiences
For some members of the Afford community, getting dressed up and enjoying a formal night out with friends isn’t something that they do very often. Afford puts on the Gala Ball to give every individual the chance to shine and be the VIP for the night.
Thanks to #AffordSupporters such as Gala Ball sponsors GorisCo Projects Pty Ltd, West Point Autos and Elefant Tracks Operations, fantastic events such as the Annual Gala Ball can give every individual the opportunity to enjoy a fun evening with friends and support Afford’s philosophy of creating more inclusive communities.
