Afford supports PWDA to celebrate Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
Afford is proud to once again stand with the LGBTQIA+ community at the iconic Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras – a celebration of visibility, inclusion and the right to live authentically.
This year, we’re especially pleased to be supporting People with Disability Australia (PWDA).
Together, we will celebrate the diversity that makes our communities stronger, while highlighting the voices and experiences of LGBTQIA+ people with disability. We are firm in our belief that people with disability are voices that deserve to be seen, heard and championed.
The PWDA theme for 2026 is InFocus: Queer & Disabled and we’re looking forward to celebrating our authentic selves at the parade, which will take place on Saturday February 28.

The joy was real for Afford staff and clients at the 2024 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade.
Proud to be queer and disabled
If you have a disability and identify as queer, why not share your story here? This is a digital storytelling campaign led by PWDA, centering the voices and lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ people with disability.
This campaign is about visibility, self-expression and community. The PWDA crew describe it as ‘Stories told by us, on our terms’ and we are so here for it.
The InFocus campaign is a great opportunity to connect, share stories and step into the spotlight. It highlights rights, pride and resistance, advocating for a truly inclusive society that values and celebrates diversity, something Afford is dedicated to.
We hope to see you in the crowd on the night of course. If you are there in person, or even if you’re watching on TV at home, do keep an eye out for Afford clients and staff on the PWDA float. We’d love to give you an in-person wave if possible.
And remember, Mardi Gras is not just a parade; it’s a powerful reminder that inclusion means everyone. We’re honoured to march, celebrate and advocate for a future where every person can belong exactly as they are.
