Ricky is a kind and caring young man who lives in one of our homes, alongside two other residents. A passionate NRL fan, he proudly supports the St George Illawarra Dragons and enjoys spending time with his family, especially regular Sunday shopping trips he shares with his Mum and Dad.
Ricky’s home reflects the rich diversity of multicultural Australia, with residents and staff from a range of cultural backgrounds. He enjoys learning about different cultures and embracing new experiences.

Ricky was delighted to attend a day celebrating the Polynesian country of Tonga.
Community is what you make it
This is perfect for Ricky because he firmly believes community is about more than where you live. It’s about the experiences you share, the people you connect with and the memories you create, he says.
Recently, Ricky had the opportunity to attend Tongan Day at Granville Park, NSW, with support from Afford staff. The event was a vibrant celebration of Tongan culture, featuring traditional music, dancing, colourful displays and community stalls.
Ricky made the most of the day, dancing to the music, taking photos to capture special memories and exploring the many attractions on offer. He also enjoyed a spot of shopping, picking up a T-shirt and a few other items to take home.

Ricky was incredibly happy to wear his new clothing celebrating the Polynesian country of Tonga.
Love, laughter and learning
“Ricky’s enthusiasm for the celebration was a wonderful reminder that meaningful connections go beyond ethnicity,” says support worker Samuel Yacob.
His joy, curiosity and appreciation for Tongan culture made the day a memorable experience for everyone involved.
At Afford, we’re proud to support people to explore their interests, connect with their communities and embrace the diverse experiences that make life meaningful and our team loved making this day happen for Ricky.
