Afford’s Short Term Accommodation is a chance for our clients, their carers and family to take time out and enjoy new experiences.
Our Waterford team create a real family vibe for respite, with the group enjoying regular outings to expand their social circles, life experience and most importantly to have fun.
Recent trips to the seaside presented great opportunities for good old fashioned outdoor fun with sizzling BBQs and sightseeing!
The sun was shining, and the water’s stunning azure colour made the perfect backdrop for a picnic with friends.
Peter put his cooking skills to the test on the BBQ. He sizzled the sausages to perfection! Everyone commended him on his good cooking skills.
Donna and Alastair sat and chatted while preparing the table for lunch. There was even time for clients to colour, while beautiful nearby trees provided the perfect shade from the sun.
The group discovered the Cleveland Point Lighthouse during their walk along the shoreline. The lighthouse has been restored by the community and sits proudly at the Point Danger for all to see.
Peter was able to cast his fishing line off the edge of the boardwalk. The fish were shy but Peter is always willing to try again.
One of the outings for our Waterford respite clients included a stop in at the Bribie Island Seaside Museum. Here, everyone enjoyed wandering through the exhibits of preserved fish dating back to 1905. There were also many interactive displays which were educational and engaging.
Short Term Accommodation outings are all about getting out in the community and developing skills for life.
Afford staff support every individual to grow in confidence to do the things that they truly love. With support, individuals can explore their interests and make choices to live life their way under the NDIS.
