If you enjoy a balance of getting out and about for adventures and quiet time at home, then this home could be perfect for you. You will share the home with a woman and a man aged in their late 50s who enjoy going for walks, visiting the city and having café lunches and train rides. The woman enjoys spa sessions and watching TV. The man is a fan of AFL football. They also like having their own space, so you will need to be okay with having your own space too!

How to pay for SIL

Funding and eligibility

You can pay for supported independent living with your NDIS plan, or with your own money. We have lots of experience with SIL and NDIS. Talk to us or your NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator can help you work out if it is right for you. Things you’ll discuss:

How old you are – SIL is for people aged 18 and over
What supports you need in your home
What your unique situation and needs are
What your goals, likes and interests are
If you need modifications
Any reports and assessments you provide

Board and lodging

An NDIS SIL support package does not include rent and boarding costs. You can pay for these costs with your Disability Support Pension, Commonwealth Rent Assistance or other sources of income you may have.
