FAQs

Explore is a one-to-one community activity program where you can try new hobbies, join social events, and have fun in your local area. You can mix your regular favourites with new experiences to create a timetable that suits you. It can also be a great way to meet people and make new friends through disability social groups in Brisbane. Every day is a chance to do something you enjoy and feel proud of.

Explore isn’t like other disability day programs. It’s a lot more flexible and personal. You get to design your own timetable and enjoy one-to-one support from our friendly team. You can take part in activities during the day or even in the evening if that suits you better. It’s about doing things that make life more interesting and fun.

Explore is open to anyone who wants to take part in personalised community activities, including NDIS participants and people who are self-funded. It’s designed for adults of all abilities and built around your interests and goals. Because Explore runs during the day and in the evenings, it gives you more choice about when you want to join in. We call it a community program because it helps you get out, connect and explore Brisbane at your own pace.

There are so many activities to choose from. You can join movie clubs, go bowling or swimming, head out bushwalking, visit local cafés, learn travel training skills or take part in art and cooking classes. You can also enjoy social clubs, cultural days and other fun events across Brisbane. Activities can be done in a group or one-on-one with your support worker. It’s completely up to you.

Yes, you can. Explore is all about choice, so you decide what goes into your timetable. You can include the activities you already enjoy and add new ones to try when you feel ready. If your interests change, you can update your schedule anytime.

Explore can be funded through your NDIS plan under support categories like Assistance with Daily Life (core), Increased Social and Community Participation, Improved Daily Living Skills and Improved Learning. You can also choose to self-fund or use a fee-for-service option if that works better for you. If you’re unsure what funding applies, our team can explain your options.
