What are STA and MTA?
At Afford, we offer short term accommodation (STA) and medium term accommodation (MTA) to support people with disability when they need a short stay. STA is also known as respite, while MTA is sometimes called transitional accommodation.
STA on the Gold Coast gives you a comfortable place to stay for a few nights or weeks. It’s a time to rest, rebuild your energy and have the right support around you while your family or carers take a short break.
MTA on the Gold Coast is temporary housing for people waiting to move into a new long-term home or for NDIS funding such as supported independent living (SIL) or specialist disability accommodation (SDA) to begin. These stays are usually for up to 90 days.
Our NDIS STA on the Gold Coast and MTA on the Gold Coast homes are welcoming, accessible and designed for comfort. We’ll help you stay independent, feel included and have the support you need while you plan for your next step.

NDIS funding information
If you’re eligible, you can use your NDIS plan to pay for STA or MTA. STA can be funded through your core budget when it supports your goals or helps you build independence and take part in the community.
The NDIS usually funds up to 28 days of STA each year. You can use those days all at once or spread them out. STA funding covers accommodation, meals, personal care and activities.
MTA on the Gold Coast is usually funded as a one-off support. It covers the cost of short-term accommodation while you wait for your next home or for funding to be approved.
Self-funded
If you don’t have NDIS funding, you can still stay in our homes by paying privately. Self-funded options are available.
Afford has STA/respite and MTA options available on the Gold Coast.
