A dream meeting with NRL heroes

Izayah and Prince from Southport Community Centre are major footy fans who recently ticked off a bucket list dream when they met their NRL heroes. The boys roared with excitement at meeting five of the top West Tigers players and Izayah was presented with a special gift.

At Afford, our staff go above and beyond to deliver award-winning services to clients, including unique day trips that allow clients to live their dreams.

“The clients were amazed to meet the players and it was great that they got to sit down and talk with them for about an hour before their training session. West Tigers players Thomas Mikaele, James Tamau, Luciano Leilua, Zac Cini and David Nofoaluma also surprised Izaya with a fully signed jersey,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Steven Conroy. 

Steven has been involved in the world of NRL for close to 20 years. He previously coached many players from the West Tigers during their early careers. The players were more than happy to help when Steven reached out to them about organising a special day for Izaya and Prince.

“Making dreams come true is what Afford does best and I love using my connections in the NRL to make our client’s wishes come true,” continued Steven.

The day was a team effort with Senior Lifestyle Assistant, Igor Reis and Team Leader, Kalo Patuki organising a vehicle for Izayah and his Lifestyle Assistant, Levi Marland, to make the trip to Brisbane.

“The greatest gift I get when I come to work is the big smiles from the clients when they achieve their goals and Izayah’s is one of the biggest rewards. The impact we have is far greater then we sometimes realise and I’m glad I get to be a part of it,” shared Levi.

The day was a great success thanks to everyone involved and is sure to be a memory Izayah and Prince will cherish for years to come.

“I absolutely love working at Afford. The smiles from our clients are priceless and hearing them say they love their support workers makes my heart smile,” said Steven.
