NDIS

The NDIS was first established in 2013 and is regulated and administered by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA)

To be eligible for funding with the NDIS you need to be:

  • An Australian citizen or hold a Permanent or a Special Category visa.
  • Aged between seven and 65 years.
  • Have a permanent and significant disability.

NDIS funding enables people with a disability to have:

  • Greater independence and control over their choices in terms of care.
  • Access to gaining skills and job opportunities.
  • Connecting with community and recreational activities.
  • Realising aspirations in education, work and life.

Using NDIS funding, people with disability can create a plan that works for their circumstances and connects them with the services, organisations and activities of their choice including:

  • Disability accommodation and housing providers.
  • Doctors and therapists.
  • Disability employment services.
  • Local community groups, libraries and schools.
  • Sporting, arts and culture clubs.
