Individualised Living Options (ILO)

Afford supports people with disabilities to live in the way that best suits them.

We make sure you receive a personalised experience with Afford’s Individualised Living Options (ILO) service. This means we work closely with you, and your family or support people to make sure we understand your living needs and goals.

What are Individualised Living Options (ILO)?

Individualised Living Options (ILO) is one of the home and living supports the NDIS might fund for NDIS participants.

It is funding to support you to make choices about where you live, who you live with, and how you want to be supported.

Why should I choose ILO?

ILO is designed just for you. Your ILO supports work with other funded supports and services you get, along with any other supports you get from family, friends, or community.

This support is designed to give you a sense of home and belonging, and to build independence. You can decide who you live with, and how they and your family, friends or community support you.

ILO can include support to achieve your goals with things like personal care or activities like cooking, cleaning, or doing your washing.

How does ILO with the NDIS work?

ILO supports are added to your NDIS plan in two stages:

  • Stage 1 is about exploration and design.
  • Stage 2 is about supports.

In Stage 1 you will explore and design the ILO supports that best suit you. You will work out where you want to live, with who, what support you will need, and who you want to provide that support to you. The outcome of Stage 1 will be a completed service proposal form sent to the NDIA.

In Stage 2, when your supports are approved, you will put them in place. The support depends on how and where you want to live, who you want to live with, and what supports you need. The supports will be made to provide the safety, stability, and flexibility you need.

The outcome of Stage 2 will be you achieving your ILO goals.

How will Afford support me with ILO?

We are here to support you all the way! When you choose ILO with Afford, we work closely with you, your support coordinator, your family or other support people to make sure we understand your needs and goals – we will listen to you.

In Stage 1 we will support you to complete the service proposal form.

In Stage 2 we will work with you to put your ILO plans into place and get you living where, how and with who you would like to.

Self-funded and Fee for Service Packages

You do not have to have government-approved funding packages, such as NDIS to access our disability supports and services.

Self-funded is a way for you to pay for services with your own money. This option provides flexibility to access the supports you need if you have a one-off request, or if your government funding package does not cover what you need. You can also self-fund supports while you wait for approval of a funding package.

Fee for Service Packages are also available for people who are self-funded and would like to access our range of disability services.

NDIS funding information (including eligibility criteria)

To be eligible for support from the NDIS, you must:

  • Need support at home, whether formal or informal, for at least six hours each day
