Ivonne from Afford’s Supported Accommodation home in Nowra, has been exploring the beauty of the South Coast with scenic drives and days on the beach. With her lifestyle assistant by her side, Ivonne recently visited the Southern Highlands to appreciate the breathtaking views.

At Afford Supported Accommodation homes, you are encouraged to explore your passions and the world around you.

“We were originally going to Kiama but the traffic was crazy so we decided to drive through Kangaroo Valley and take a scenic tour. We ended up going to Mt Gibraltar, Mittagong and Jamberoo lookout,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Richard Stanyard.

At each stop, Richard shared some history of the region and pointed out noteworthy landmarks. They captured many happy snaps and interacted with other locals who were out and about.

“It’s good for Ivonne to get out of the house and explore the community. It’s important for her mental health,” continued Richard.

While out, they had lunch and saw the vintage Ford V8’s at Mittagong RSL Club. They then stopped by their original destination, Kiama, before heading home.

“The day before, we went to Currarong beach and Ivonne loved it. The beach is one of her favourite places and Currarong is very smooth and calm. She went out on the boogie board and just enjoyed the freedom and sound of the water,” said Richard.

Ivonne’s love of the ocean makes her feel connected to her family. Her parents always took her out to Austinmer and her father’s ashes were laid to rest at a local beach. She is looking forward to heading out there again soon.
