A perfect day for Daniel from our Windsor Day Program involves going for a bushwalk where he can feel the sun smiling down on his face and a gentle breeze whistle through his hair. Getting out in nature makes it feel like he is walking on sunshine, and don’t it feel good.

Afford Day Programs will always help you appreciate the little things in life. From learning a new skill, exploring nature or listening to your favourite songs, you have the freedom to express yourself and follow your passions.

“With the COVID-19 lockdown, we have been making the most of the situation by exploring new walking tracks as Daniel loves to be outside. It is so freeing to go for a walk and it has been great for his mental health,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Chris Small.

The pair have been on adventures in both Windsor and Llandilo, where they can walk, fish and enjoy the calming atmosphere.

On days where they feel like staying at the centre, a game of backyard cricket or baseball has gone a long way for keeping up Daniel’s spirit.

“Even if we only go outside for half an hour, it breaks up the day, the fresh air is great and it is a lot better than being stuck inside four walls,” continued Chris.

Daniel is a real social butterfly who always likes to stay busy. This year he has been involved in a sign language choir, drama classes and dance lessons.

“He has been lucky enough to continue his drama and choir lessons through Zoom; however, he is excited for when he will be able to see his friends again and get back to our normal routine of getting coffee when we go to choir,” said Chris.

It is great to see our day program clients and staff reflecting on the simple things in life and making the most of every day, even throughout challenging times.
