For our Queensland Affordians, snow is a rare occasion however, but our Wellington Point Community Centre ladies Haylee and Chelsea were treated to the total snow queen experience at the local Winterfest event.

Afford Community Centre clients are given fantastic opportunities to access the community and build self-confidence whilst making memories that will last a lifetime.

“Haylee and Chelsea were superstars on the day. There was imitation snowfall at intervals throughout the day and it was great. Both girls enjoyed being a part of the excitement, it was something special,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Mandy Moneypenny.

They first visited the Winterfest the week before with their mum Robyn to celebrate their birthdays however, there was a mix up from the organisers with the start time. For their trouble, the group was gifted $150 worth of complimentary food and experiences to use on their return the following week, which was even better than anticipated.

“The best part of the day was the atmosphere and for the girls to experience a winter festival. Mandy and Janice are both fantastic. They are very dedicated to my girls and went above and beyond on the day,” said Robyn.

Drinking hot chocolates with marshmallows, watching the ice skating and taking photos with the igloo’s were other highlights of the day for Haylee and Chelsea and having their mum by their side made it even more special.

“Days like these are important because they allow our clients to get out into the community and go somewhere special. Even though a lot was going on, the girls were so resilient and had a great day,” continued Mandy.

Celebrating milestones such as birthdays with family and friends is all part of the Afford Lifestyle. Learn more about our Community Centres and how you and your loved ones can start making the most of these special moments.
