Queensland welcomes Heroes with Ability

Afford’s partner, Heroes with Ability (HWA), provides our New South Wales clients with inclusive and engaging sports sessions that build a range of everyday skills. The HWA team recently travelled to Queensland to share the magic with our clients in the sunny state. Their first session was a great success and our clients are already looking forward to their return.

“It was amazing to connect with new people from Afford and share what we do. We got to know the clients and staff personally, and everyone was great. It was such a happy and fun atmosphere with the Caboolture staff even coming dressed up in fun costumes for the day,” said Director and Co-Founder, Marco Quintao.

The day was held at Burpengary Regional Aquatic & Leisure Centre. Almost 100 Afford clients attended on the day from our Miami, Southport, Beenleigh, Ipswich, Mt Gravatt, Wellington Point, Caboolture and Strathpine Lifestyle Centres.

“This was their first time, so some clients were more engaged with others, but that was the same with our first Sydney clinics. We saw many clients come out of their comfort zone and with more sessions, they would become even more confident. Overall it was a very successful day,” continued Marco.

The clients loved working together and challenging themselves to move their bodies in new ways and learn new skills.

Everyone was treated to some special HWA merchandise on the day and our biggest footy fans also received a new Brisbane Broncos jersey.

“Thanks to our partnership with the Broncos, we hope to organise more special days. We would love for the Queensland clients to watch the players train and get to meet some of their heroes. We’d also love them to attend the upcoming magic rounds in May,” said Marco.

The HWA team used their time in Queensland to develop this network with the Brisbane Broncos and invited Afford’s District Manager, Charlie Seu, to attend a local community radio session to promote Afford’s Services.
