Stephanie from Caboolture Community Centre loves to give back to her community in any way she can. Just over a year ago, she began volunteering at the local Caboolture Historical Village and has recently been promoted to working in the café.

At Afford Community Centres, you will always be given opportunities to follow your dreams and explore the passions that make you happy.

“Steph’s volunteer works helps her achieve many goals, including managing her health and wellbeing by being active throughout the day and developing independence,” said Senior Lifestyle Assistant, Bronwyn Jeucken.

Stephanie quickly became a well-recognised and friendly face around the site with her can-do attitude and bubbly approach to life. After showing steady progress in the gardens, Steph was invited to join the café team, where she has been thriving.

“For the last few weeks in the café, Steph has been baking cupcakes and serving morning tea. Her Lifestyle Assistant, Krystian has been there every step of the way,” continued Bronwyn.

The café environment has been excellent for allowing Stephanie to have meaningful experiences and achieve more of her goals.

“It has been building her confidence as every day she is interacting with new people and discovering a sense of accomplishment. It is great to see the other volunteers appreciate her effort and give her praise for her work,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Krystian Anderson.

Stephanie is looking forward to many more exciting opportunities at Caboolture Historical Village and we cannot wait to see what she achieves next.

Afford Community Centres will always support you to do what brings you joy and feel encouraged to find a sense of fulfilment in your everyday life.
