Our Penrith and Mt Druitt SLES trainees recently attended PCYC’s Local Jobs for Local People Job Fair. It was a fantastic opportunity to discover the world of work and practise their networking skills.

Afford’s SLES program helps you navigate the transition from school to work by connecting you with industry opportunities that suit your goals and talents.

“The trainees learnt about different industries, opportunities and job availabilities in our local area. They were also able to meet a range of local business representatives,” said SLES Vocational Trainer and Coordinator, Tayla Clark.

Everyone enjoyed browsing the different booths, interacting with industry professionals and having a great day out in the community.

A highlight of the day was the career quiz at the Skills Road booth. The trainees enjoyed answering questions about their personality and interests to determine what industries they may like to explore.

“Brody was ecstatic to get a 90% score on his career quiz for the animal welfare and conservation industry. That very much matches his interests,” continued Tayla.

Justin and Jarrod were intrigued by some of the current opportunities at Penrith Panthers and both took applications to register their interest.

After the event, our trainees were full of confidence and felt excited for their futures.
