Short Term Accommodation offers individuals and their families and carers a break from the everyday. It’s a chance to unwind, connect with different people and take some time to rest and re-energise.

Our St Mary’s respite service regularly organises outings so that participants can enjoy the outdoors, get involved in a new experience and socialise with others in a comfortable and supportive setting.

The group’s most recent trip was out to orchard country in Bilpin, where there was an abundance of apples to pick and hungry bellies ready to consume them!

With lifestyle assistants with them for support, Sabrina, Patrick, Karen and Kayla headed out to Bilpin Springs Orchard for a day of apple picking and fun.

As they meandered through the rows and rows of orchards, the group saw trees heaving with ripe, red apples just waiting to be picked. They collected a bucket load of apples – and tried a few along the way!

Kayla was supported to enjoy going through the orchards in her wheelchair and picking her own fruit from the trees to take home.

After apple picking, the friends enjoyed lunch together and talked about all the delicious dishes they plan to make with all the apples they had  picked. Apple pie was certainly one of the culinary creations on the menu!
