Club Afford members from Ipswich Community Centre took a walk on the wild side when exploring Tamborine Mountain in South East Queensland.

The rainforest is home to four different waterfalls, stunning lookouts across the Hinterland and a range of cafés and shops that attract tourists.

“Everyone enjoyed getting out and exploring new things, but these days are not just about socialising. It is an excellent opportunity to be out in the community. Clients learn important skills like teamwork and build more confidence within themselves,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Kimberley Chapman.

Inspired by all the beautiful surroundings, Knylia found a passion for photography on this trip. While walking to the waterfall, Knylia snapped many photos on her phone. She even asked Kimberley to take some of her posing with her friends.

At the beginning of the day, Knylia was feeling shy and a bit anxious but by the end, she was laughing, participating with everyone and was having so much fun discovering photography,” continued Kimberley.

Everyone loved the lookout and to see the sun illuminate the beautiful view was a great reward at the end of the bushwalk.

“One of Christine’s goals is to become more independent. She rarely goes on bushwalks like this, but she enjoyed the day so much that she has said she wants to come back,” Kimberley said.

Club Afford at Ipswich is always getting out to exciting local events and locations. Over the last few weekends, they have visited the Cooly Rocks On Festival, Winter Village and Eat Street for some great days out.
