Our NSW residents take their NRL seriously and with the Penrith Panthers pouncing into the grand final, there was some great fanfare. Sites showed their Panther Pride by decorating their homes, getting creative with their arts and crafts and tuning into game day prepared for a win. The team didn’t disappoint, taking out the premiership 14-12 against tough competitors, the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

When you join an Afford Supported Accommodation home, you will be encouraged to explore your creativity, develop your interests and share your passions.

Our Empire Supported Accommodation men turned their house into a Panthers den both inside and out. Even the houses scarecrow got involved, donning a Panthers jersey, hat and some homemade posters.

“All clients and staff got involved in making signs and decorations for the teams playing in the grand final. We decorated outside the house and celebrated with mini pies, sausage rolls, drinks and lollies,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Rhiannon Owen.

Over at Eschol Park Short Term Supported Accommodation, even our West Tigers supporters were excited about the game.

“The clients love watching the NRL and supporting all different teams. Staff assisted the clients in making a celebratory lunch spread in preparation for the grand final game. Everyone loved it,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Sherrie Budd.

The ladies at Bluebird Supported Accommodation might be in Panthers territory but that didn’t stop them from celebrating both teams and crafting giant letters that spelt Panthers and Rabbitohs.

NRL is much more than a just sport for our clients. The teamwork, confidence and sportsmanship that their heroes demonstrate both on and off the field inspired them every day.

Everyone who joins Afford Supported Accommodation homes will have opportunities to express their passions, make memories with their friends and celebrate important events.
