For footy fans, Jason and Paul from Pakenham Supported Accommodation, the AFL grand final is one of the most important nights of the year. The showdown between the Melbourne Demons and Western Bulldogs was one for the history books, with Melbourne winning their first grand final in 57 years. Jason and Paul showed their pride by getting creative with their arts and crafts.

“Paul and Jason had been talking about the grand final for several days. They were so excited,” said Lifestyle Assistant, Feruth Beletse.
They started the long weekend with a determination to turn their passion into creativity. Jason and Paul got started by making some decorations for the home. They already have an AFL ladder sticker which they keep in a prime position on their fridge and update weekly, but a grand final as exciting as this one called for more colour.
“Jason chose to print some templates he created on Microsoft PowerPoint while Paul made a poster and pompoms. Then, they worked together to look up their favourite players and print photos to add to the poster,” continued Feruth.
The final touches included hanging tissue paper to mimic the flags of their favourite teams before taking some great selfies. They then prepared their favourite footy meal, meat pies and got their snacks ready for the big game.
“This event was a showcase of Paul and Jason’s passion. The men displayed their excitement for the grand final by making their decorations and cheering on their teams,” said Feruth.
The grand final had fans on the edge of their seats and ended with the Melbourne Demons taking out their first premiership since 1964.
